The brainstorming session
That’s what
it’s about
Brainstorming is one of the best known and most effective innovation techniques, which is often used in groups to generate new ideas and find solutions to problems.
The aim is to collect as many ideas as possible in a relaxed and open-ended atmosphere without evaluating them.
Procedure
1. Select a moderator to lead the brainstorming session (if it takes place in a group)
2. Clarification of the topic or problem for which ideas are to be collected
3. Define a clear time frame for the brainstorming session
4. Free collection of ideas without criticism or evaluation – let your thoughts run free – other innovation techniques such as mind mapping can also be used for structuring purposes
5. Summarizing and, if necessary, prioritizing the collected ideas These steps create an initial pool of ideas, which can be incredibly helpful for further action on tasks and projects that require a lot of thinking.
And because brainstorming works best in groups, it is our preferred innovation technique – because we can only reach our goal successfully together!
