These were our highlights in 2024
The best
of 2024
Our website has been undergoing a makeover over the past few months and is now back for you with a fresh new look and lots of information. But a lot has also happened in the meantime – in fact, the whole of 2024 was a highlight carousel for us, which we would like to share with you here once again.
New Managing Director
In January, Dr. Werner Boysen came on board Carl Stahl as the new captain. As the new Managing Director, he set a full course for innovation and at the same time relied on the company’s decades of expertise, the valuable experience of the existing team of experts and creative new additions.
Successful trade fair participation at R+T
This course released energy! In February, we exhibited at R+T and were able to present our products and expertise to 61,232 visitors from 143 countries at the world’s leading trade fair for roller shutters, doors and sun protection systems. The atmosphere was excellent, a number of contacts were made and many new ideas were taken away.
Award-winning textile anchor plug
We were able to present our award-winning textile anchor dowel to a specialist audience at the International Narrow Textile Week at the Technical University of Dresden in March and received enthusiastic applause. Many areas of application are now awaiting the use of this alternative fixing element as soon as this innovation has completed its rally through the patent office.
Innovative strength in spring: ZIM research project
In spring, we continued with strong innovative strength: at Techtextil in Frankfurt am Main in April, we decided to apply for a ZIM research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology together with the TU Dresden and the Swiss ribbon weaving machine manufacturer Jacob Müller. The program of the planned study will explore the possibilities of developing high-strength narrow fabrics.
Proximity to science and research
The year was characterized by our constant proximity to science and research. In May, the students of the Hackathon 2024 at Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences presented their project results. These included a business model development for a flower box holder system with our straps. We were so impressed that we have started developing a corresponding new product that will be launched on the market in 2025. This much can be revealed: Plant lovers, hobby gardeners and balcony vacationers will enjoy it.
50 years of compulsory seat belts
Who can remember? Seat belts became compulsory in Germany 50 years ago. This was worth an interesting report on the production of seat belts for the N-TV channel. We were delighted to be chosen as an example of seat belt webbing weaving in Germany for the film. The report with many impressions from our plant was broadcast in the PS-Automagazin program on June 15, 2024 on N-TV.
Colorful ideas in summer
The colorful summer gave us some colorful ideas. Why should roller shutter belts always be monotonous? Our development team was inspired by the latest trendy pastel colors, so that we now have multi-colored lifestyle roller shutter belts in our range. You can read the story in the August issue of Glaswelt.
Mid-year review: Company vision in an interview
The mid-year review also provided an opportunity to pause for thought: Where are we now? Where do we want to go? In an interview with the business magazine Wirtschaftsforum, Managing Director Dr. Werner Boysen and Key Account Manager Udo Meining had some exciting answers. Carl Stahl has always been regarded as the first port of call for security and roller shutter belts, and that may remain the case, but we can and want to do much more.
The whole range of applications for webbing can be discovered on our new website since September. The variety of applications for our belts is almost unlimited. We are already looking forward to supporting all our customers as a development partner for their needs.
Launch of the Gurt + Gurt brand
Sometimes the best comes at the end! A very special highlight for us was the launch of our new brand Gurt + Gurt with the first product, the NEO bag, in October. Together with students from the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences, we developed a bag and a DIY kit made from valuable belt remnants.
We had had the vision of creating new products from high-quality remnants for a while. With NEO, which we offer in three colors, and NEO Black in spun black, we have finally implemented this approach. This brings us full circle in this review of the year. Because, as already mentioned above, we have an idea for a creative Christmas present. We wish everyone a happy Advent season and a reflective and peaceful end to the year.
Sincerely,
Your team from Carl Stahl
